On June 29, 2026, Abel suffered a sudden dizziness spell, leading to the discovery of a dangerous brain abscess. He was admitted to the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital on July 1st, where he underwent urgent brain surgery to drain the abscess. To manage the condition, surgeons had to temporarily remove a portion of his cranium and preserve it inside his abdomen at the umbilical level. Abel was finally discharged on August 2nd, after a month-long hospitalization. He is scheduled for a second surgery in approximately three months to restore the cranial bone to his head (further details are in the attached discharge document from the doctor). Abel’s family survives on a very modest income. His father, Mr. Binoy E J, works hard as an auto-rickshaw driver and part-time catering assistant, while his mother cares for the home. During Abel's month-long hospital stay, the family lost all income because both parents were required to remain at the hospital as bystanders. While the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital performed the primary surgery free of charge, the family had to pay for all other critical medical and living needs out of pocket .
